Vina Del Mar is the sister city to the largest Chilean seaport, Valparaiso which it actually borders, "Vina" as the Chileans call it is Chile's "Riviera". As much as Valparaiso is a commercial seaport Vina Del mar is a resort with casinos, restaurants, night clubs, discos ( yes discos) swimming beaches and complete resort facilities. Only 120 KM. by car from Sanitago (on a divided highway) it is Santiago's playground and can be very crowded in the summer, Chile's summer, months (October to May). In Vina you should dress dress smart for restaurants and the Casino, otherwise cut-offs and almost any swimming attire is welcome..but watch the sun. It can be intense in the summer in the Southen hemisphere.
